Attention all Students
Punctuality Rule
Punctuality is a value that all students need to inculcate as it is an important value in the business world. Students are expected to be punctual for classes. You will be marked, in the register, as
- "Late" if not more than 15 mins late.
- "Absent" if more than 15 mins late.
Submission of MCs
- Please submit your Medical Certificates (MCs) within 2 working days (48 hours) from the last day of medical leave.
- Only MCs issued by medical practitioners registered with the Singapore Medical Council will be accepted.
- Late MCs will be considered invalid and you will be marked as Absent without approval.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: MCs FOR MID-SEMESTER TESTS MUST CONTAIN THE 'UNFIT TO SIT FOR TEST' CLAUSE AND THE DIAGNOSIS.
Submission of LOAs
Applications for Leave of Absence (LOA) must be submitted with supporting documents at least 1 week before date of absence. You must inform the subject tutor(s) concerned and obtain signatures of approval from your CarePerson and Course Manager.
Warning E-mail and Academic Penalty
Under the attendance policy, if you do not meet the 85% tutorial attendance rule for a subject, you will be placed on the Academic Penalty list. You are eligible for the subject's main assessment and, where applicable, that subject's supplementary assessment. However, if you pass the affected subject at either the main or supplementary assessment, you will only be awarded with a "P" grade (non graded pass) with an associated grade point of only 1.0.
For a subject with 1 tutorial/lab session per week, students with 2 unapproved absences will receive a warning e-mail, and students with 3 unapproved absences will be placed on the Academic Penalty List.
You are strongly advised to attend classes even if you are placed on the Academic Penalty list so as to prepare yourself for the subject's main assessment. You should check your attendance record via TP Student Portal.
The Academic Penalty list will be published on the Student Portal 3 working days before the commencement of the Main Examination. Please check the portal for the information.
Revised Subject Passing Rule
- For a subject with end-of-semester examination, you are required to obtain at least 50% in the overall subject mark in order to pass the subject at the main or supplementary assessment;
- For a subject with end-of-semester examination, the total coursework mark attained in the main semester will be used to compute the overall subject mark at the main and supplementary examination (where applicable).
